HD lace (High-Definition lace) is a Swiss-made, ultra-fine lace that's significantly thinner than transparent or Swiss lace. When laid flat against the skin, it almost becomes see-through That’s why every Kendra's Boutique 2x6 closure is built on HD lace.
The closure's narrow 2-inch lace strip at the front means even less surface area to blend than a frontal That’s the smallest possible "visible" lace footprint while still delivering a full deep part.

The "6" in 2x6 is the length of the closure running from your hairline back towards the crown. That’s exactly the depth needed to create a true, dramatic middle part. All closure sizes (2x6 vs 4x4 vs 5x5 vs 6x6) do the same job. They cover the parting area of your install so it blends easy with bundles. The difference is how much parting flexibility, lace coverage, and cost you want.

Closure is a small hairpiece covering only the parting area of your install (sizes 2x6 through 7x7). Frontal on the other hand, is a larger piece that runs ear-to-ear across your entire hairline (sizes 13x4 and 13x6).
Both attach to bundles to complete a sew-in or wig. The difference is how much of your front hairline they replace.

Choose a 2x6 closure if you want one consistent middle-part style with minimal upkeep. If you change your part regularly or wear high updos, go with a 13x6 frontal.

Lace type matters even at the smaller 2x6 size but the tradeoffs are slightly different than on a frontal because there's less lace to manage. Here's how the three lace types compare at 2x6 scale:

The most common closure install. Cornrow your natural hair into a flat braid pattern, then sew the closure directly onto the braids at the front of your install using a curved needle and weaving thread. Bundles are sewn in behind. It lasts 4 to 6 weeks. It’s the standard professional install with a clean lay, secure hold andlowest daily maintenance.
A faster install that doesn't require braiding the entire head. Wrap your natural hair flat under a stocking cap, apply hair-bonding glue or a wig-cap base, and attach the closure plus bundles directly onto the cap.
Takes 1–2 hours in total. Not 3–4 like a full sew-in and lasts 2–3 weeks. Quick weave is popular for buyers who want a faster turnaround and don't mind the slightly shorter wear time.
A no-adhesive install. Sew an adjustable elastic band into the back of your closure-and-bundle construction. Then slide the unit on over your braided natural hair. No glue, no chemicals on your hairline, and a takedown in seconds.
For sensitive scalps, beginners, and anyone alternating between hairstyles, this is the best option. Wear for 1–7 days at a time.
A 2x6-specific install method that protects your natural edges entirely. Instead of placing the closure at your front hairline, install it 1–2 inches behind your hairline and leave the edges out at the front.
One of the safest ways to wear a closure for protective styling. Your natural hairline stays completely untouched, and the closure blends in as the part behind your leave-out. Kendra's Boutique recommends this method for women managing thin edges or hair loss.
For all install methods: lightly tint the lace with a lace tint spray matched to your skin tone, pluck additional baby hairs only if needed, and lay edges with edge control for the final finish.
Closures last longer than frontals because there's less lace under stress. With the routine below, our virgin 2x6 closures last 12–15 months and raw 2x6 closures last over 15–24 months.
Wash every 10–14 days with a sulfate-free shampoo, working gently from root to tip. Never scrub the small knots on the underside of the lace.
Follow with a deep conditioner or hair mask, leave it on for 15–30 minutes, and rinse with cool water to seal the cuticle.
Air-dry on a wig stand whenever possible. For Kendra's Raw Curly and Burmese Curly closures, use a diffuser on low heat to revive the curl pattern.
All Kendra's Boutique 2x6 closures ship with knots lightly bleached at the factory. If you choose to lift them further:
⚠️ Important Kendra's Boutique safety guidance: Because 2x6 closures use small, single-bleached knots, never leave bleach on the lace for more than 1 minute. Over-processing the small knots will destroy the lace integrity and void any care-related coverage. Apply a 20–30 volume developer + bleach mixture only to the underside of the lace. Time it for 60 seconds maximum, rinse immediately, neutralize with purple shampoo, and condition.
It’s one of the most common ways buyers ruin a closure. Proceed slowly or skip this step entirely since our closures already ship with lightly bleached knots.
Store it on a small wig head or in a satin bag, never folded in a drawer. Sleep with a silk or satin scarf if wearing overnight. With proper care, Kendra's virgin 2x6 closures can last 12–15 months, and the raw 2x6 closures can last 15–24+ months.
Closures generally outlast frontals because the smaller lace area sees less daily wear and less install/takedown stress.
A 2x6 closure covers only the parting area of your install. You'll need bundles to fill the rest of the cap and the perimeter. Kendra's Boutique recommends matching the texture exactly so the closure and bundles blend without a visible transition line.
Closure installs need fewer bundles than frontal installs because there's more leave-out behind the closure to fill with hair. Our recommendation:
